  • Continental Automated Buildings Association Releases 2007 Intelligent Buildings Roadmap

    POCO Labs lead this collaborative industry-funded research project, the 2007 IBRM, by bringing together Cisco Systems, Direct Energy, ESC Automation/Delta Controls, Johnson Controls, HID Corporation, Honeywell International, Tridium, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratories, Legrand North America, Lutron Electronics Co., Inc., Panduit Corp., Siemens Building Technologies, TAC, Trane, and InfoComm International. This study was designed to update CABA’s Technology Roadmap (TRM) for Intelligent Buildings, a research report released in 2002. The Roadmap’s primary objective is to identify strategies for developing intelligent buildings that have the greatest potential to drive broad acceptance. The report examines the challenges facing intelligent building implementation within North America and identifies the market developments and industry initiatives needed to support the wider adoption of these technologies. The project employed qualitative market research including focus groups, interviews, and trend analysis to conclude that a series of barriers inhibiting industry growth. The IBRM recommends a complete strategy to remove these barriers, and surveys the sentiments of industry stakeholders.

    POCO Labs brought together AT&T, Cisco Systems, Hewlett Packard, Salton and Whirlpool to examine how an intuitive connected health portal system can help consumers manage chronic diseases like obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure. The project’s goal was to examine the role digital home technologies can play in not only addressing chronic diseases but assisting engaged healthy consumers with maintaining their overall well being with devices and some level of connectivity—-in and out of their home.
